Shining in music

Yona Su, one of Clayfield College’s Music Captains for 2017, has been playing the viola since she was eight years of age and began in the Year 3 String Program at Clayfield.

Yona has recently completed her LMUS A exam on viola and in 2015, completed her AMUS A. She has also performed as a member of the Queensland Youth Symphony, which is a wonderful achievement at only 15 years of age.

Yona also plays piano to a very high standard and regularly competes and places in eisteddfods on both instruments. Over her secondary schooling at Clayfield College, Yona has performed with Viotti Strings, the Allegria String Quartet and has toured with the College on both the 2012 and 2015 European Tours. She has participated in external masterclasses, Australian Chamber Orchestra school workshops and the State Honours Ensemble Program. Yona has recently been offered university placements in Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney.

Watch Yona perform the Fantasie for Viola and String Orchestra by Hummel at the 2017 Speech Night.
