The ‘Power of Feedback’ is an important aspect of the academic culture at Clayfield. Earlier in the term, I wrote about the key role feedback plays in student assessment learning. However, feedback is not isolated to student growth; it is also an important aspect of professional growth for the academic staff. Making time for Great Teaching argues that high-performing organisations need to provide the opportunity for teachers to participate in intensive professional learning programs where they receive and act upon continual feedback. However, Helen Timperley indicates that these professional conversations about feedback can only be converted into improved student outcomes if clear structures and processes support them.
During the past year, we have formalised and facilitated these professional conversations about feedback for teachers, with all academic staff observing, reflecting and setting goals related to their classroom practice. To support teacher growth and development this week, we have commenced the implementation of a 360-degree teacher feedback tool called Educator Impact. This tool has several core features, including peer observation, student feedback, self-reflection and evidence-based goal setting. At the start of Term 3, students from across the College will have the opportunity to be part of this process when they are completing the student feedback survey. We thank the students in advance for being an integral part of the ongoing growth and development of the academic staff at Clayfield College. This process will provide teachers with meaningful feedback about their classroom practice, inform professional conversations with evidence, and enable practical goal setting as staff continue to grow and develop as educators.
I am pleased to announce that Mr. Adrian Walker has been appointed to the position of House Leader - Ashburn. Please join me in congratulating Adrian on his appointment.

Next Monday evening, best-selling author and trusted parenting guru Rebecca Sparrow will be here at the College to share her tips on how parents/careers can support their children through the tween to teen stage of life.
Many parents can feel anxious and panicked about the world their children currently live in. Every day parents are faced with screaming headlines about eating disorders, depression, addiction and risky online choices, and they are unsure about how to talk about these topics. Rebecca Sparrow regularly speaks to tweens, teenagers and parents on how to navigate this new world
Rebecca’s meaningful work is extensive, and she is commonly referred to as a ‘parenting guru’. She describes her purpose as being to help teenagers traverse that tricky path from childhood to adulthood. Her great passion for helping teens (and their parents) navigate high school friendships, have a more positive experience online and understand that they are enough just as they are despite what society tells them. Rebecca is an award-winning author and also writes for Mamamia, co-hosts a health and happiness podcast The Well, and plays Agony Aunt to teenagers across the country on the Ask Me Anything podcast.
Later in the year, we will also have presentations from accomplished parenting author and journalist Madonna King and Drug Educator Tony Parsons. Once we have finalised the dates for these presentations, we will let the community know.

Sports Update
Football
Our football teams celebrated their season and thanked their coaches and support staff on Thursday morning after their final training session at a team breakfast. Thank you again to the Sports Support Group who fund these team initiatives; we appreciate them. The girls have had a great season; their energy and enthusiasm for football are still very high. However, several girls commented that they wish they had a few more weeks. A full wrap-up of the season and their final games will be published next week.
Touch The touch teams have had a hectic final two weeks playing four games over eight days. The final round is away at St Margaret's fields at Windsor Park. Our combined Year 7/8 team has been earnestly training and improving. On Thursday afternoon, they had their first win of the season, 5 – 0 against IGGS. The girls were thrilled with the win, but more so, we are happy with their continual improvement and enthusiasm regardless of the game's outcomes. It is great to see all teams playing with such great intent, intensity and determination so late in the season. A full wrap-up of the season and their final games will be published next week.

Winter Sports – Pre-season
Winter sports Training Schedule
QGSSSA Athletics – Pre-season This year we are aiming to develop depth across all aspects of Athletics and in all year levels. We invite all girls who want to learn any of the disciplines in Athletics to come along to training. Training sessions prior to IH Athletics will be done on a rotational basis, where girls will participate in 2 – 3 events per training session. As they begin to develop their skill and appreciation for certain elements, they will begin to specialise to really develop their performance. Training on Monday afternoon will be at Bowden Park. All events can be completed in an authentic field so girls will be transported to and from the venue. Any students wishing to attend MUST sign-up on the Croc Board to ensure they have a seat on the bus. Sign-up must be done by 1:30pm each Friday.
Elite Sporting Program – Sports Specialist Series Accredited Sports Dietician Sam Armstrong came along this week to chat to girls about 'fuelling for Performance,' a very on-point topic for all the girls. Along with some GREAT tips and advice, Sam shared with the girls her promising sporting career and her own issues with nutrition while performing and the impacts this has on her sports back then and her health since. Many girls had met Sam previously through their own sporting clubs, however, everyone found the talk very worthwhile and took some great tips away.
Next week is the final presentation within the Term 2 series and this will be with Firth Hudson Graham, founder of GirlsTrek. After coming 10th in the Blue Mountains Ultra Trail (Australia's premier trail running event), Frith had an epiphany that it wasn't about winning, it was about challenging yourself and getting 'out there' – about keeping your passions alive and letting them develop and change as you do. As a result, her GirlsTrek company was born. Firth will share this story with the girls and discuss with them "The long race, fuelling your passions."
Health and Fitness Week A fun-filled week where there was a big focus on getting active during lunch breaks. See below for some of the highlights. A full wrap-up of Health and Fitness week will be in next week's edition.

From the CCOCA
On Sunday, we hosted the inaugural members of the CCOCA Emerald Club as they celebrated the 80th Anniversary of the Association. The Old Girls Associations was formed on the 23 May 1941 by Miss Nancy Ashburn. Today the Association is known as the Clayfield College Old Collegians Association and continues to provide the conduit for many decades-long friendships and a connection between the generations.
Listening to memories of young ladies sharing laughs in a circle during school lunch, then randomly running into each other again years later on a beach, is a story that is both timeless and entirely relatable to all who have passed through the College. Although we will always treasure and nurture the special friendships in our lives, as we grow older, the ancillary meetings and reuniting can remind us of the relationships we have long forgotten, the laughs shared, and the triumphs celebrated part of a wider community.
Congratulations to the organising committee and thank you to Dr Cousins for welcoming us to the campus for this special celebration, surrounded by the 90th historical display in the LRC.
