Clayfield Student Selected for Prestigious International Maths Olympiad

We are incredibly proud to announce that Caroline Zhang (Year 12) has been selected to represent Australia at the 2025 International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), to be held this July on the Sunshine Coast.

This prestigious event brings together the world’s most gifted young mathematicians to compete in a rigorous and intellectually demanding competition. Caroline’s inclusion in the national team is an extraordinary achievement, reflecting her exceptional problem-solving skills, dedication, and passion for mathematics.

Caroline will join a cohort of 27 students representing Australia across six international Olympiads in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Informatics, and Earth Science. Hosted for the first time in Australia since 1988, the IMO on the Sunshine Coast will see hundreds of students from around the world competing and collaborating through mathematics.

To be selected, Caroline participated in a highly competitive process involving national extension programs and exams run by Australian Maths Trust. Her success speaks to the strength of Clayfield College’s academic and STEM programs, as well as the unwavering support from her teachers and mentors.

Clayfield College is immensely proud of Caroline and her accomplishments. She embodies our College motto, Let your light shine, through her intellectual curiosity and pursuit of personal excellence.

We look forward to cheering Caroline on as she takes part in this exciting opportunity, showcasing not just her mathematical brilliance but also representing the spirit and values of Clayfield on a global stage.

On behalf of the entire Clayfield community, congratulations Caroline!
