Clayfield College Welcomes New Director of Junior School

Clayfield College is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Damien Marshall as Director of Junior School, commencing in January 2026.

With over 15 years of leadership experience across Australia and overseas, Damien brings a wealth of expertise in strategic leadership, curriculum and pedagogy development, inquiry-based learning, and community connection. Most recently, he served as Principal of the Primo and Junior School at Bloom World Academy in Dubai, where he led the school’s rapid growth and secured accreditation as an IB Primary Years Programme school within just 18 months.

A passionate advocate for personalised, evidence-informed teaching, Damien believes in nurturing curiosity, creativity and independence in every child. His philosophy aligns closely with Clayfield College’s commitment to ensuring every student is known, valued and understood.

Damien describes his leadership style as relational, visible and collaborative, fostering an inclusive culture where students, staff and families feel connected and empowered to thrive. His approach mirrors Clayfield’s strong sense of community and focus on transparent, high-quality teaching and learning.

“We are thrilled to welcome Damien to the Clayfield community,” said Principal Dr Andrew Cousins. “His passion for inquiry-based learning, cultivating a student-centred culture, and nurturing every child’s potential will further strengthen our Junior School. I am confident his relational leadership will continue to build the strong sense of belonging that defines Clayfield.”

As an experienced mentor, Damien has led large teaching teams, guided professional learning and encouraged a culture of reflection and growth. He champions initiatives that strengthen parent partnerships and enhance student wellbeing and encourages growth mindsets among staff and students alike.

Holding a Master of Educational Leadership from the University of Canberra and a Bachelor of Education (Primary) (Honours) from QUT, Damien also brings extensive experience in digital learning leadership and innovation.

The move to Clayfield marks a return home for Damien, who grew up in Dalby and began his early professional career in Brisbane. He will be joined by his wife, Anna, and their two young daughters, Sophie and Isabelle. We look forward to warmly welcoming them into our Clayfield College family in January 2026.
