Campus Revitalisation Moves Ahead

The revitalisation of Clayfield College’s campus continues to gain momentum with the refurbishment of the PE Centre completed during the October school holidays.

The refurbishment, which included extensive upgrades to the Cardio and Strength and Conditioning facilities, was made possible due to the support of the Clayfield College Foundation and its commitment to investing monies raised into projects that will have an immediate impact for students.

Speaking about the refurbishment, Principal, Dr Andrew Cousins said “the renewal and enhancement of the campus is linked to our strategic imperative to retain the best of our heritage, while creating a campus that positions us to provide outstanding opportunities for students so they can let their light shine.”

“We sincerely thank the Foundation for its commitment to direct the funds from this year’s Giving Day to projects like the PE Centre refurbishment, which deliver an immediate benefit to both our Primary and Secondary students. We are truly grateful to our Clayfield community for supporting the work of our Foundation, as their contributions have helped make this project a reality.”

“Our athlete development pathway will be further enhanced by these refurbishments as well as the purchase of new equipment such as Matrix Vision treadmills, ski and bike ergs, Assault Air bikes, C2 rowers, rigs, rollers, dumbbells, barbells and a Clayfield sled track and sled push.”

“One of the things that's important in schools is that if students are feeling good, and they're functioning well, they get really great results. Physical wellbeing goes hand-in-hand with cognitive, social, emotional and spiritual wellbeing and our new PE Centre will provide an inspirational environment for physical wellbeing.”

The College’s annual Giving Day, held on 14 June this year, raised $313,917 exceeding the total monies raised in 2022.

“The extraordinary result at the conclusion of the 2023 Giving Day was thanks to the incredible generosity of the Clayfield family and is testament to our strong College spirit,” said Sandra McCullagh, Chair of the Clayfield College Foundation.

“As a Foundation, we are focused on the ongoing renewal of the College’s beautiful buildings and environment, so we can continue to advance the mission and spirit of the College.”

The PE Centre refurbishment is the latest in a planned program of upgrades that have already included the Black Box Studio, an exceptional learning and performance space for Music and Drama students; and the Boarding House kitchen, dining room and front entrance makeover. We are thrilled to see these projects come to life through the generosity of the Clayfield community.
