Clayfield College Recognised Among Australia's Best

Clayfield College is incredibly delighted to announce that we have been named an Excellence Awardee in two categories at the prestigious 2025 Australian Education Awards.

The College has been recognised in the Best School Strategic Plan category and the Carolyn Hauff Boarding House is an awardee in the Boarding School of the Year category.

Our nomination for Best School Strategic Plan acknowledges the vision and leadership driving the transformational change taking place in the College’s 94-year history. All aspects of the Strategic Plan are viewed through the lens of our transition to co-education from Pre-Prep to Year 12 with the Parallel Learning model. The plan celebrates the best of Clayfield’s rich history and heritage, while propelling it forward.

Principal of Clayfield College, Dr Andrew Cousins says the awards are a wonderful affirmation of the College’s strategic direction and the unwavering commitment of the College’s staff.

“Our Strategic Intent outlines a bold new era for Clayfield. At the halfway point in its lifespan, the plan’s vision is being realised across all four strategic pillars: Learning by design; Wellbeing through belonging; Learning from experiences; and Sustainability with responsibility. This acknowledgment is something for our entire Clayfield community to celebrate.”

For the third year, Clayfield is an Excellence Awardee in the Boarding School of the Year category. This reinforces the continued strength of the Carolyn Hauff Boarding House, where significant revitalisation of the physical infrastructure has further enhanced the quality of academic and pastoral care programs provided. In 2024, under the leadership and guidance of Head of Boarding, Mrs Kathryn Searle, there has been a renewed focus on driving academic excellence and student success. This has included an extensive tutoring program which engages Old Collegians and experienced educators to provide tailored support. The initiative strengthens connections between past and present students while reinforcing Clayfield College’s commitment to academic excellence.

“Kathryn and her team have worked tirelessly to uplift the College and transition to our future as a fully co-educational school. This nomination reflects the team’s dedication and capability,” said Dr Cousins.

“To be shortlisted in two highly competitive categories reflects the vision, care and commitment of the entire Clayfield community to empower students to let their light shine.”

The 2025 Australian Education Awards winners will be announced on Friday 8 August 2025.
