Co-Curricular & Extra-Curricular Programs

The Clayfield College Middle Schooling’s co and extra-curricular programs are extensive and provide the opportunity to undertake new challenges and trial new activities ranging across sport, music, academic, art, drama and community projects. These activities provide opportunities for girls to achieve balance in their schooling experience and to become responsible and involved members of different groups. Through this involvement students may develop new skill sets for life, form new relationships and further opportunities to pursue excellence beyond the academic curriculum.

Music: Clayfield College has an outstanding reputation in the field of music. An extensive array of music groups are available, with rehearsals held outside school hours. Groups will be required to perform in a number of school concerts and community performances throughout the course of the year.

Music groups at Clayfield College include:

  • choral: Caio Bella, Campo della Voci, Clayfield Choristers;
  • strings: Paganini Strings, Viotti Strings, Middle Schooling Quartet, Corelli Strings;
  • wind: Wind Orchestra, Wind Ensemble,  Symphonic Winds, Stage Band;
  • chamber: Percussion Ensemble, Wind Quintet, Brass Ensemble, Viola Ensemble, Clarinet and Saxophone Choir, Flute Choir.

Sport: Clayfield College competes as a member of the Queensland Girls Secondary School Sports Association (QGSSSA) in thirteen seasonal sports in a number of divisions ranging from Year 8 to Open. Years 6 and 7 students compete in the Andrews Cup across eight sports. All teams are chosen in accordance with selection criteria that are based on skill and fitness levels and commitment to training. Training for each team generally takes place outside school hours in preparation for their respective competitions. Opportunities are also available for sportswomen to pursue representative honours through the Queensland School Sport system, which includes Metropolitan North School Sport. Clayfield College has also developed strong links with Delta Gymnastics.

QGSSSA (Years 8 – 12) sports offered by Clayfield College include:

Additional sporting opportunities for Years 6 and 7 students include:

  • Cricket skills clinics
  • Hockey Development Program
  • Spikezone Volleyball Program


Community Service groups: Community Service at Clayfield College forms an integral role in the life of the College. There are various opportunities for students to be involved in giving something back to the community through service. Community Service groups include:

  • Amnesty International;
  • Interact Club;
  • Red Cross;
  • UN Women; and
  • Duke of Edinburgh Awards Scheme.

Academic groups: There are a variety of extra-curricular Academic groups which enable the students to extend their areas of interest. Extra-curricular Academic groups include:

  • Opti-Minds Challenge; and
  • Future Problem Solving.

Cultural and Other groups: Clayfield College offers numerous other groups that students can elect to be involved in. These include:

  • Artbox;
  • Debating and Public Speaking;
  • Dance Company;
  • ISCF (Interschool Christian Fellowship);
  • Multimedia Club;
  • Dic Inc; and
  • SOSWO (Share Our Skills With Others).
